Najib is Still Shuffling...

After hours of meetings with BN coalition partners, new PM Najib is finally ready to unveil his "dream team" cabinet at 3pm tomorrow (thursday) after getting consent from the Agung.

From reliable sources that i get, UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin is not included in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's Cabinet list.On the other hand, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir could be appointed youth and sports minister and UMNO Youth vice chairman, MP for Muar Datuk Razali Hj Ibrahim could also be offered as a minister of Rural Development.

My sources also informed me that some corporate figures will be in the line-up to turn around the economic crisis.

PR retains 2 Bukits, BN retains Batang

The official results of the three by-elections are as follows:

Batang Ai: Malcom Mussem Lamoh (BN) 3,907 votes; Jawah Gerang (PKR) 2,053; Majority - 1,854 votes.
Bukit Gantang: Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (PAS) 21,860 votes; Ismail Saffian (BN) 19,071; Kamarul Ramizu Idris (Independent) 62; Majority - 2,789 votes.
Bukit Selambau: S. Manikumar (PKR) 12,632 votes; S. Ganesan (BN) 10,229; Majority - 2,403 votes.

Cabinet Reshuffle..

Prime minister, DS Najib will announce a new cabinet line up today. Rumors says that the new cabinet will be smaller in numbers of portfolio compared to the previous one, and a few "familiar faces" will be dropped to give way to the new blood. DS najib will reveal his dream team in order to strengthen the administration and to gain confident from the people.

p/s: I hope more new fresh faces to be introduced tomorrow, generation has changed, we need to impress the young voters which will be the 'King Maker" in the next election.

2 Bukit, 1 Batang

Tomorrow, 7th April 2009, voters from 3 areas will decide who should be their "YB". The announcement of the parliamentary seat by-elections will be made around 9pm for all 3 areas. The most important by-election would be Bukit Gantang Perak due to this will be a testament from the people to decide between Dr Zambry or Dato Sri Nizar. Tun Mahathir made an 11th hour appearances both at the 2 Hills in hope to garner support at the final leg.

TS Muhyiddin offers five reasons on why the wind of change is heading towards BN– Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak becoming the country’s sixth prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad return to Umno, the quality of BN’s candidate, renewed confidence of the people in BN and Pakatan Rakyat being beset by its own problems.

Mahathir vs Anwar (Round 2)

Just days after submitting his application to rejoin Umno, Dr Mahathir was in Bukit Gantang to campaign for the by-election at the invitation of Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.This is the first time in the nearly six years since he left office that the premier of 22 years has hit the campaign trail.

Tun, in his usual attacking mode said "That man just wants to create uncertainty. He said something big would happen on September 16 but in the end, nothing happened," referring to Anwar's promise to topple the government last September.

Some critics might say that this is the return of mahathirism but this is what he has to say "They condemn Mahathirism. What is wrong with Mahathirism? The country was developed for 22 years because of Mahathirism. So I think it is good,".

"Pemuda Prihatin"

Yesterday (4th April 2009), my Umno Youth Branch (Gugusan Sg merab, Sepang) organized a program called "Pemuda Prihatin". We visited 2 houses; 1. Tok Imam Besar Masjid Sg Merab (just had a spinal operation) and 2. Hjh Rokiah (Warga emas). They were pleasently happy by our visit and both houses prepared yummy food for us. We presented some gifts to ease their burdens. I personally hope that this kind of program will be held through out the years as I feel that this is more effective to attract the younger and older generations. Kudos to us!!

Dummies Guide for PM

After a thorough reading and personal observation of the political scene, here are my top 10 tips on "how NOT to loose your job as PM"

1. Dont sleep on your job and get caught by the cameras

2. Try not to let your family involved in the administration (for me, that is one of the secret why Tun mahathir lasted for 22 years)

3. No Flip-Flop, make a thorough study before making any announcement

4. Always respect previous leader(s)

5. Write your own speech, or at least the important points comes from you

6. Select the "right" adviser, and know when to sack them

7. Do not go for a holiday during our nation's natural disaster

8. Don't buy something for 70 million Euro and sell it at 1 Euro (Need me to elaborate?)

9. "Pulau Batu Putih Incident" shall not happen again

10. Remember all the above points..

PM's surprise visit..

DS Najib , in his casual khakis, visited Petaling Street,Vista Angkasa & Brickfields (3 areas in the federal capital) today. The visit was unofficial an many local traders was pleasently surprised by the visit today. He mingled around with the public and even had “putu mayam” and “thosai” with curry on a banana leaf, and a glass of “teh O ais limau”in a local mamak at Brickfields. Not bad for his 2nd day..

Mahathir is Back! (For the 2nd time)

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has officially applied to become a member of Umno for the 2nd time and party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak welcomed it saying that it would help strengthen the party.

The simple ceremony was held at the Sri Satria, Putrajaya. The ceremony also saw Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and son, Datuk Mokhzani submitting their Umno membership application forms.

Dr Mahathir and Dr Siti Hasmah would get to keep their old membership number which was 000001 and 000002 respectively.

Dr Mahathir had resigned from Umno in May last year, saying he had lost confidence in the party which he had led for 22 years.

Previously, Dr Mahathir was expelled from Umno in 1969 during the era of first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman for having criticised the party leadership. In 1972, Tun Razak had welcomed Dr Mahathir's return to Umno.

It seems that he has rejoined Umno previously during the era of Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and rejoining now during the era of Tun Razak's son, DS Najib.

Interesting fact... coincidence or intentional??

DS Najib was sworn in as the 6th Malaysian Prime Minister today (friday), replacing Paklah who stepped down after 5 years. Both Paklah (now Tun Abdullah) & Tun Mahathir was at the ceremony to witness the historic event. Paklah and Jean Abdullah was awarded the nation's highest award which carries the title Tun from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Paklah's Legacy

Some might call him Mr. Nice Guy, some might say he's taking his own time in handling national issues, yet he has contributed to some extend, a better democracy for Malaysia. I believe he has his fair share of contribution.

Here are some of his legacies (i think) -

1. Malaysia Anti Corruption Council
2. Better remuneration for civil servant
3. Agricultural development
4. A more democratic foreign policy
5. Human capital development.
6. Reform of the judiciary

I also would like to apologize to Pak Lah for a list of strong criticism during his tenure. I wish him 'a happy retirement'.

At last, 2 of my favourite artist are here to rock, right here in Malaysia. . It took Korn 15 years to get here and it took Jamiroquai 16 years to get here. Is our music industry is that far behind??

Tun Mahathir is joining UMNO on Monday-

The Star: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to help campaign for Barisan Nasional’s candidate in the Bukit Gantang by-election, Ismail Saffian.

He is scheduled to come to the constituency next Monday.

If this happens, it would be the first time in the six years since his retirement that the former premier would be campaigning for Barisan in a by-election.

1 Member, 1 Vote (what say u?)

I was very excited when DS Najib announced at the opening speech of UMNO AGM 2008 that more members should be eligible to vote for Umno's top post , rather than 2,600 delegates in the hall. During the closing ceremony speech, he proposed that more than 60,000 members from division should be allowed to vote for the top post.

Currently UMNO has 3 million registered members; hence 60,000 translate to 0.02% of members that would be eligible to vote for their president & only 0.002% of Malaysian population has a say on who is the Prime Minister (based on our current population of 27 million).

The major problem with UMNO right now is that, it is viewed by the public that UMNo is too exclusive, elitist etc.. etc..

Solution??

I strongly believe that more and more people will register to be an UMNO member since they will have more say on who is the next leader(s). UMNO can increase its membership (or maybe double from the current figure) if this is implemented. With this, UMNO will be more "inclusive" rather than "exclusive".

"Behead Nizar"

News from Bukit Gantang Perak:

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin urged Bukit Gantang voters to "behead" PAS's Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin by not voting for him in the upcoming by-election.

Muhyiddin, who is the Barisan Nasional election director, said the country is witnessing an unprecedented development where the decision of a Malay Ruler was being questioned by the people.

"Because of this act of treason against the Ruler, what they are doing is a despicable act. How can a mentri besar, a PAS leader, a Muslim who wishes to turn this country into an Islamic state say 'Saya mohon derhaka' (I beg to differ)," he said repeating the line used by Nizar when he disagreed with the Perak Sultan.

"In the old days what do you think the punishment would have been?" he asked the crowd to shouts of "pancung" (decapitation).

"We behead him by not electing him, not behead like in the old days," said Muhyiddin.

p/s: This is the first time Tan Sri Muhyiddin is heading a bi-election, such a strong word from our vice-president :)
